Marubeni Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (MSFI) donated a total of twenty-two (22) units of virtual desktop computers and one (1) unit of host PC to Muñoz Central School, a public school located in Muñoz City, Nueva Ecija. The school has a population of 2,316 pupils. Total donation amounted to around Php370,000.
This is the eleventh year that MSFI has been donating computers and other instructional materials to public elementary schools in the Philippines as a result of Marubeni Corporation’s additional grant in 2008. Improving computer literacy among public elementary school pupils is one of the advocacies of the Foundation.
Muñoz Central School is located in the city of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, 126 kilometers north of Manila. The students come from varied backgrounds, a lot of whom come from poor families. The school was established in 1902. MSFI was introduced to Muñoz Central School through a request from one of the teachers who appealed to the Foundation to donate computers that can somehow fill the computer requirements of its big student population.
The Donation Turnover Ceremony was held last December 14, 2018 at Muñoz Central School. In attendance were the Board of Trustees and Officers of MSFI, officers of Marubeni Philippines Corporation, representatives of the city government led by The Honorable Mayor Nestor Alvarez, community leaders, school officials, parents and pupils.
