MARUBENI CORPORATION Extends Assistance To the Relief Operation in Nothern Mindanao

Marubeni Corporation of Japan will donate 10 million Japanese yen (Php5.6 million) to support the relief efforts in Northern Mindanao which was devastated by the flash floods brought about by Typhoon Washi (Sendong) killing more than a thousand people. The company expressed its sympathy for the loss of lives and extensive damage to properties, and its hope for the early reconstruction and rehabilitation of the affected areas.

The San Roque Power Corporation and TeaM Energy Corporation, both under Marubeni’s group of companies in the Philippines, will also be extending assistance to the victims in Mindanao. San Roque Power Corporation donated Php1.5 million through the ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya hoping that additional assistance will be given to the thousands of families in the relocation centers. Team Energy Foundation, Inc. and the employees of TeaM Energy Corporation, on the other hand, will be donating a total of Php1.0 million also in support of the relief operations.

Marubeni has been operating in the Philippines since 1909 and has investments in power generation, industrial estate and construction machinery.
