MSFI Donates Tablets to Aid Distance Learning

Posted on October 26, 2020

Marubeni Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (MSFI) donated forty-two (42) units of Lenovo M10 Tablets to Sto. Tomas Elementary School, a public school located in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. Total donation amounted to Php369,600.

Since 2008, MSFI annually donates computers and other instructional materials to public elementary schools in the Philippines as a result of Marubeni Corporation’s additional grant in the same year. Improving computer literacy in public elementary schools has become one of the advocacies of the Foundation.

This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Philippine government prohibits face to face classroom instruction until a vaccine will be available. Public schools face the challenge of delivering quality distance education with minimal available resources. To help Sto. Tomas Elementary School face this challenge, MSFI decided to donate tablets to the school that will be used by one class of Grade Six pupils in online class instruction. The tablets have been installed with applications recommended by the Department of Education for attending online classes as well as learning modules that pupils can study offline.

The Donation Turnover Ceremony was held last October 26, 2020 at the Sto. Tomas Elementary School. In attendance were Mr. Tommy T. Valdez (Trustee of MSFI), Mr. Roy Benson of the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (DepEd Central Office), the Department of Education’s Schools Division Superintendent, community leaders, school officials and parents.
