Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arturo Tugade and Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda led the ceremonial track laying and installation of the electromechanical system (EMS) at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) Emerald Station on April 16, 2019 to signal the commencement of the four-kilometer extension project. From the existing Santolan Station, two stations, Masinag and Emerald Stations, will be added to serve 80,000 passengers daily up on its completion by the fourth quarter of 2020.
